Guide
to Authors
Chinese
Journal of Chromatography,
a scientific journal launched in 1984, is sponsored by
the Chinese Chemical Society, and managed by Dalian
Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP), Chinese Academy of
Sciences, and published bimonthly by Science Press. The
journal is the only professional journal in China
dedicated to report the research on the basic and
applied theory in chromatographic area. It attaches more
importance on the front-line subjects, up-to-date
developments and achievements in chromatographic
research and its related areas. It serves as the
channels to promote the exchanges of scientific
information in chromatographic research and introduce
the applications of chromatographic theories and
technologies in various sectors.
The
journal is now abstracted and indexed by many databases,
including Chemical Abstracts (USA), Index Medicus (USA),
Analytical Abstracts (UK), Index Copernicus (Poland),
Abstract Journals (Russia), and most of the important
indexing systems in China.
The Journal welcomes manuscripts in English.
1.
Scope of Chinese
Journal of Chromatography
The
Journal publishes papers on all aspects of separation
science including chromatography, electrophoresis,
hyphenated and other multi-dimensional techniques,
sample preparation as well as detection methods.
Contributions consist mainly of research papers dealing
with chromatographic and electrophoretic theory,
instrumental developments and their analytical and
preparative applications in Biochemical research;
Biochemistry & molecular biology; Biotechnology
& applied microbiology; Chemical engineering;
Environmental chemistry; Food science & technology;
Geosciences; Life science; Material science; Medicinal
chemistry; Nutrition & dietetics; Organic chemistry;
Plant sciences; Toxicology; etc.
2.
Types of manuscripts
Mainly
three types of manuscripts are considered for
publication.
(1) Articles
presents complete description of innovative
investigations or partial outcome of research. Each
article should be preferably around 6000 words.
(2)
Communications
briefly reports new, unusual and significant results.
These manuscripts should bear the words “rapid
communication” above the title on the first page. Each
communication should not exceed 4000 words.
(3)
Reviews presents
the surveys of recent progress on important topics in
chromatography. Author(s) should have published articles
in the field, which should be embodied appropriately in
the review. Author(s) wishing to submit a review article
should first send a brief outline of its contents to the
Editorial Office. Each review should be around 7000
words.
3.
Preparation of manuscripts
Manuscripts
should be submitted to the Editorial Office on-line via
the journal’s submission website http:// www.chrom-China.com.
Manuscripts
should be written in good English. Currently, only
Microsoft Word files are acceptable.
Manuscripts
should include: Title,
Abstract, Key words, Introduction, Experimental section,
Results and discussion, Conclusion, References, and
Acknowledgments (if applicable).
Acknowledgments present
technical assistance, material support, and other help
or advice (excluding financial support, which should
appear in the footnote on the title page). Tables
and Figures should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals
separately, self-explanatory, and
referenced in the text and placed in the text
near the point of the first mention. Tables
should have a brief descriptive title and footnotes if
necessary. Figures should have figure captions. Authors
should provide proper figures. For printing, the minimum
resolution for a black and white line art, grayscale
art, and color art is 1200, 600, and 300 dpi,
respectively. The contents of figures, tables and word
descriptions should not be duplicated. For review
articles, experimental section, results and discussion
should be replaced with the appropriate subtitles. Full
addresses of authors should be placed below the title. A
footnote should be included on the first page to give
the e-mail address of the corresponding author and, if
applicable, information regarding financial support.
Short biography for the senior author or corresponding
author is required. The biography should contain gender,
universities attended and degrees obtained, principal
professional posts held, present title, a line or two
about major research interests.
Title
should be short (5-30
words), specific and informative. No abbreviations
should be used in the title. Abstract
(about 150 to 400 words) should be independent,
self-explanatory and intelligible without reference to
the text. It is essential that the abstract includes
objectives, methods, results and conclusions.
Three
to eight Key words should be given below the abstract.
References
should be listed at the end of the manuscript. Authors
are responsible for the accuracy of the references.
Citations should be numbered sequentially in the order
in which they are cited in the text. Authors’ and
editors’ names are given as surname followed by
initials. List the names of all authors; "et
al." should not be used. The names of the journals
should be abbreviated according to the World List of
Scientific Periodicals. The following are the examples
of literature citations:

Review of manuscripts
Every
submitted paper is independently reviewed by at least
two referees. Decision for publication, amendment, or
rejection is based upon their comments. If two or more
referees consider the manuscript unsuitable for
publication, a detailed explanation will be sent to the
authors within 60 working days.
After
the peer review, if a revision is requested for a
potentially acceptable manuscript, the authors should
return the revised manuscript by e-mail within 3 weeks.
Revised manuscript should be accompanied by a
point-by-point response to all the comments made by all
the reviewers. All revised contents in the manuscript
should be underlined to facilitate further review. The
final decision to accept or reject a manuscript will be
made by the Editorial Office.
5.
Publication of manuscripts
Accepted
manuscripts are copy-edited before publication to
conform to the journal style and to meet space
limitations. Page proofs in PDF format are sent by
e-mail to the corresponding author, who is asked to
check it for typesetting and editing errors. The
corrections should be returned to the Editorial Office
by e-mail as soon as possible (within five days).
All
the manuscripts can be published within 7 months after
acceptance. No page charges are required for manuscripts
from countries outside China. The authors will receive a
complimentary issue and 15 free reprints.
6.
Copyright
Manuscript
must be accompanied by a form (to be download from http:
//www.chrom-China.com) filled by the senior
author stating that the author(s) agrees to transfer the
copyright of the manuscript to the Editorial Office of Chinese
Journal of Chromatography as
soon as it is accepted for publication and certifies
that the work reported therein has not been published
before.
