Abstract: To address the deficiencies in undergraduate chemistry laboratory teaching, where the connection between theory and practice remains insufficiently close and the integration of innovative methods and frontier technologies is inadequate, this paper designs an innovative experimental teaching scheme for undergraduates by combining the preparation of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a frontier scientific and technological achievement, with the use of spectroscopic analytical instruments. Centering on the preparation of a bismuth-based MOF, the experiment first synthesizes an amino-modified bismuth terephthalate MOF (Bi-BDC-NH2) via a solvothermal method, and then combines Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) with Bi-BDC-NH2 through electrostatic self-assembly to obtain the target material Bi-BDC-NH2@Au. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to characterize the functional groups of the material. The absorption band at 3400 cm-1 indicates the presence of amino groups, and the carboxyl coordination bands at 1550 cm-1 and 1380 cm-1 confirm the successful synthesis of Bi-BDC-NH2@Au. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was employed for morphological analysis, showing that Au NPs are uniformly loaded on the MOF surface, which demonstrates the good assembly effect of the material. Finally, colorimetric detection combined with ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-Vis) enables visual quantitative point-of-care testing (POCT) of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), with a linear range of 1-100 μmol/L and a limit of detection of 0.98 μmol/L. Students participate in the complete research chain from material design and synthesis optimization to performance evaluation, thereby acquiring the basic ideas of material preparation while improving their skills in instrument operation and data analysis. This experiment not only strengthens students' multidisciplinary understanding of materials chemistry, analytical chemistry, and biosensing, but also, with frontier achievements serving as the driving force, establishes an integrated cultivation pathway of “basic theory-practical operation-innovative application”, which effectively enhances students' scientific research literacy and innovative thinking and provides a replicable practical paradigm for cultivating innovative chemistry talents in universities.

Key words: undergraduate innovative experiment, metal-organic framework (MOF), analytical chemistry, point-of-care testing (POCT), teaching reform
